In conjunction with the World Bank/International Monetary Fund meetings taking place in Washington DC this weekend, the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) today hosted more than 400 leaders from throughout the Arab world at a "welcome reception" for delegates.
This kickoff event - the only one of its kind - brings together finance ministers, central bank governors, ambassadors, bankers and a wide range of business leaders from the 22 Arab nations. "Our chamber is honored to host these dignitaries in the nation's capital," said David Hamod, President & CEO of the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce. "Many of these leaders represent companies that are active in our chamber, and we are privileged to share our hospitality with them."

The chamber's reception takes place against a backdrop of economic uncertainty in the United States and around the world. Central bankers and finance ministers are engaged in high-level discussions here about the most effective ways to revive and sustain their respective economies. The chamber's event, taking place at the elegant Four Seasons Hotel, offers a welcome respite from the ongoing negotiations.
The NUSACC reception, the only private social event during the IMF / WB weekend that is geared to the entire Arab world, is rapidly becoming an annual tradition. This is the third year that NUSACC has hosted this high-level gathering and, in the words of one delegate, "It just keeps getting better and better."
